Pre-War Guitars Co. adds Gearcheck as an optional provenance layer
A shop built on the character of golden-era acoustics extends that philosophy into the record itself.
Gearcheck

We are excited to share that Pre-War Guitars Co. is now offering Gearcheck as an optional add-on, giving owners of these highly sought-after instruments a dedicated security and provenance layer from the start.
Founded in 2014 by luthiers Wes Lambe and Ben Maschal in North Carolina, Pre-War Guitars Co. has built a reputation for making new guitars in the true spirit of the pre-war era. Drawing deeply from 1930s construction methods — lightweight builds, hide-glue dovetail necks, carefully selected and torrefied tonewoods, and ultra-thin nitrocellulose finishes — the shop creates instruments that look, sound, and feel like well-loved vintage guitars while incorporating the reliability and adjustability modern players need. Limited annual production and intentional aging options have made these guitars coveted among serious players and collectors alike.
What sets Pre-War apart is its clear-eyed mission: to produce “new old guitars of the future.” These instruments are designed to carry the character and voice of golden-era acoustics while beginning their own stories today. By making Gearcheck available as an optional layer, Pre-War is giving owners a practical way to anchor those stories from day one.
Through Gearcheck, each instrument can receive a secure record of its origin, specifications, materials, and ownership history, supported by RFID tagging for physical security and easy identification. The result is a permanent foundation of provenance that grows with the guitar — documenting its life as it is played, traveled, maintained, and passed on.

For a company already focused on creating instruments that feel like they have history, this partnership simply extends that philosophy into the digital record. New Pre-War guitars can now leave the shop ready to accumulate the kind of documented story that traditionally only decades of ownership could provide.
We are proud to support Pre-War Guitars Co. in this step and look forward to helping more of these distinctive instruments begin their provenance journeys the moment they are born.
Every record. Every story.
