← HomeHow it works

From the workbench to the next steward.

A quiet system underneath a simple idea: one place for an instrument's story to live, with every hand it passes through allowed to contribute.

The steps, from bench to next steward

  1. 01

    Registered at the source

A builder or first owner creates the record — specs, materials, photos, paperwork.

  2. 02

    Added to along the way

Repair techs, dealers and appraisers append their chapters to the same record.

  3. 03

    Value in context

The Vintage Guitar Price Guide is mapped onto the record. Census market data (currently in private beta) adds live context for appraisers and sellers.

  4. 04

    Handed on intact

When the instrument sells, the full record travels with it — to the next steward.

What makes the record hold up

RFID tags

Optional at the source — a discreet, permanent link between the instrument and its record.

Timestamped ledger

Every chapter is stamped so a future buyer or insurer can see when it was added.

Point-of-sale hand-off

Dealers can transfer a record at the counter without paperwork getting lost.
