Gearcheck

We are pleased to welcome Jason Verlinde, publisher and co-founder of The Fretboard Journal, as an advisor to Gearcheck.
For more than twenty years, Verlinde has built one of the most respected voices in guitar culture. The Fretboard Journal has stood apart by prioritizing depth over hype—focusing on the builders, the players, the history, and the communities that surround the instrument. Through the magazine, its podcasts (including The Truth About Vintage Amps), and the annual Fretboard Summit, Verlinde has consistently championed careful storytelling, craftsmanship, and the lasting relationships people form with their instruments.
That perspective aligns closely with Gearcheck’s purpose. We exist to help owners organize, preserve, and secure the records and stories of instruments that matter—creating durable digital histories that can travel with the instruments themselves across ownership, time, and generations. Verlinde’s long commitment to documenting the fuller context of guitars and the people who make and play them brings valuable insight as we continue refining tools for collectors, players, estates, and institutions.
We are grateful for his guidance and look forward to the perspective he brings.
Welcome, Jason.
Every record. Every story.
