Blackbird Studio uses Gearcheck to inventory and manage over 10,000 items
Microphones, outboard gear, instruments — a working collection at a scale that demands real structure.
Gearcheck

We are proud to support Blackbird Studio as it uses Gearcheck to inventory, organize, and manage more than 10,000 items across two locations for rental operations and insurance purposes.
Founded in 2002 by legendary sound engineer John McBride and his wife, country star Martina McBride, Blackbird has grown into one of Nashville's — and the world's — most respected recording complexes. Located in Berry Hill, the facility encompasses multiple world-class studios, an unmatched collection of vintage and modern recording equipment, Blackbird Audio Rentals, and The Blackbird Academy, the hands-on audio engineering school McBride established to train the next generation of professionals.
John McBride is widely recognized as an innovator, industry veteran, and mentor whose influence reaches far beyond the walls of Blackbird. From his early days in live sound to building one of the most comprehensive private gear collections in the industry and creating educational pathways for aspiring engineers, he has helped shape standards of quality and professionalism that many in the recording world continue to follow. Blackbird itself has become a Nashville staple, trusted by artists across genres for decades.

Managing a collection of this scale — spanning microphones, outboard gear, instruments, and related equipment used daily for studio sessions, rentals, and education — requires precise organization, clear records, and reliable documentation for insurance and operational needs. Gearcheck provides that layer of structure and security, helping keep every item accounted for and its history accessible.
We are honored to assist Blackbird Studio and John McBride in this work and proud to support a facility that remains central to Nashville's creative community.
