A lifetime of song left behind more than a catalogue. It left the instruments that carried it from the stage, the studio and the road.

Gearcheck selected to organize and curate the Jimmy Buffett collection
Jimmy Buffett with his collection at home.

We are honored to announce that the Gearcheck team has been selected by the Jimmy Buffett estate to organize and curate his personal collection of instruments and related materials.

Jimmy Buffett's lifetime of song left behind not only a singular musical catalog but also a meaningful collection of the instruments that carried those songs from the stage, the studio, and the road. Gearcheck has been entrusted with the careful documentation and preparation of this collection as it moves toward auction at Christie's in the near future.

As part of this work, we are employing state-of-the-art RFID chip insertion and blockchain technology to establish an immutable, time-stamped record of provenance for each instrument. These tools create a permanent, verifiable digital history that travels with the objects themselves — locking in the authenticity, ownership chain, and story of Jimmy's instruments for future collectors, institutions, and fans.

We are proud to be collaborating closely with the Christie's team throughout this process. Together we are focused on ensuring a seamless, transparent transition that honors the integrity of the collection and the legacy it represents.

For Gearcheck, this project sits at the heart of why the platform exists: to bring clarity, permanence, and trust to the records of high-value musical instruments so that their histories remain intact across ownership, time, and place.

We are deeply grateful for the confidence the estate has placed in our team and look forward to supporting this important chapter in the careful stewardship of Jimmy Buffett's instruments.

Every record. Every story.
